ACADEMY:Endurance Specialist Certification - Chicago (Course 305)

The Track & Field Academy's Endurance Specialist Certification Course is a detailed, 36 hour course covering all issues in training and technical coaching of the 800, 1500, 1600, 3K, 3200, SC, 5K, 10K, and RW Events in Track and Field. The course is illustrated with animated take-home video created just for the course to enhance understanding. Certification by the USTFCCCA is granted for successfully completing the course and its evaluations.

About the Endurance SCC.  The Endurance Specialist Certification Course (SCC) is a detailed, 36 hour course that covers all issues in technical coaching of the endurance events. Certification by the USTFCCCA is granted for successfully completing the course and its evaluations. The course contains video content. Topics include training theory, periodization of endurance event training, biomechanics of the endurance events, training components, training design and administration, peripheral training concerns, technical study, and gait study in the middle distance and distance events.

Registration and Requirements.   There is no longer an application process. Registration is on a first come, first served basis and when classes fill, registration will be closed. There are no prerequisite courses required to take this course, however two years of formal coaching experience are required.

Cost.   Course tuition is $425 if paid prior to May 1, 2017.  Tuition is $475 if paid after May 1, 2017. Payment arrangements are detailed in the registration process.

Strength and Conditioning Course.  The Strength and Conditioning Specialist Certification will be offered at the same site July 14-16, at the completion of the event specific SCCs.  Students are welcome to attend an Event Specific SCC and the Strength and Conditioning Course. Register for the Strength and Conditioning course separately, but Room and Board Packages are available for the Event Specific Courses only, the Strength and Conditioning Course only, or both. You will have a chance to register for Room and Board during the registration process.

Travel.   Students are responsible for their own transportation to Chicago and the Loyola campus. Note when booking air travel that travel times from Loyola University to O’Hare and Midway Airports range from 30 minutes to one hour.

  • Arrival and Departure – Specialist Courses.  Students taking only the Specialist Certification Courses (302, 303, 304, 305, 306) should plan for on-campus arrival any time on Sunday, July 9, 2017.  Specialist Course students should plan to depart campus after 12:30 PM Friday, July 14.  No exceptions will be made. It is suggested that you do not book a flight with a departure time earlier than 3:00 PM.

  • Arrival and Departure – Strength and Conditioning Course.  Students taking only the Strength and Conditioning Coach Certification Courses (310) should plan for on-campus arrival before 12:00 PM on Friday, July 14.  Strength and Conditioning Course students should plan to depart campus after 1:00 PM Sunday, July 16.  No exceptions will be made. It is suggested that you do not book a flight with a departure time earlier than 3:30 PM.

Instructors.  The Specialist Courses is taught by highly respected coaches, who have proven themselves in the coaching field and have extensive experience in the teaching profession.
