Description & Details

Summary: Tusculum College, an NCAA Division II affiliate, is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Part-Time Assistant Coach, Track and Field. This is a GA position (Throws or Multi-Event) assisting the Head Track and Field Coach with all duties involving administering a high level DII track and field team. This position includes tuition remission and a stipend of $7,500.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist Head Coach in developing coaching techniques, overall team and individual student-athletes strategies
  • Assist student athletes with individual performance and provide direction for improvements
  • Coordinate activities for all matches including team travel plan, inventory of equipment, etc.
  • Assist with recruiting and scouting
  • Develop, deliver and oversee weight room training
  • Assist in the counseling of student athletes in academic and personal matters
  • Participate in fundraising and public relations activities
  • Participate in summer sport camps

Non-Essential Duties

  • Other duties may be assigned as needed


Experience, Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Collegiate Track & Field and/or coaching experience in throws or multi-events and ability to transfer the knowledge and skills gained to student athletes
  • Knowledge of conference and NCAA rules and regulations
  • Strong written and oral communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Proven track record of consistently modeling positive behaviors at all times 
  • Strong follow-up and follow-through skills as well as ability to plan, organize and control projects through to completion
  • Ability to handle and maintain confidential information
  • Valid, unrestricted U.S. driver’s license

  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in experience and education 

Physical Requirements (with or without reasonable accommodation)

  • Lifting, Pulling, Pushing: Exert up to 50 pounds for force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
